STERLING STEEL COMPANY L.L.C., USA, WILL INSTALL LIME PNEUMATIC TRANSPORTATION/INJECTION SYSTEM FOR EAF.
The project foresees the supply of two MOLI dispensers (5000 liters/1320 gal capacity each) for the pneumatic transportation of 'Dololime' and 'HiCal' from the main storage silos to the EAFs injectors, two innovative LIMEJET multi-functional Mixed Swirled Flame burner/injection units installed on board of EAF upper shell (one dedicated for the 'Dololime' and one for the 'HiCal' pneumatic injection), electrical/automation system automation, pipelines and lime storage silos engineering.
MOLI and LIMEJET technology is a valid and well proven improvement versus existing practice to charge the fluxes into the bucket with super-sacks, it will provide a much cleaner shop environment and it will avoid big- bags management.
The pneumatic injecting of the HiCal/Dololime fluxes into the slag favors refractory side bank protection and, more important, continuous slag foaming and its viscosity control, increases substantial recovery and by the use of fine particles the solution is faster and more reactive.
Start up of the equipment is scheduled on August 2007.
MORE now has a scorecard of 17 EAFs with lime pneumatic transportation/injection systems worldwide.
