DOLO-LIME PNEUMATIC INJECTION SYSTEM IN OPERATION AT GERDAU AMERISTEEL JACKSONVILLE (USA) EAF.
On March 2009, at Gerdau Ameristeel Jacksonville located in Baldwin (Florida, USA) with a production capacity of 1Mt/y in rebar products, the chemical energy package in operation since 2007 in the 90 ton EAF, has been implemented with an additional pneumatic dolo-lime injection system supplied by MORE srl (Gemona del Friuli, Italy).
MORE scope of supply for the dolo-lime pneumatic injection system includes:
one MOLI dispenser, one LIMEJET multifunctional burner/ injector, integration of the automation requirements in existing PLC/HMI in service for the fix injection technology. The LIMEJET is a combined burner/fluxes injector with a 3 MW burner mode including the innovative MSF-Mixed Swirl Flame technology.

The technology eliminates to charge dolo-lime material through the roof hole or bucket charge. Thus, all fluxes requirements in the EAF melting process are manage by pneumatic injection with improvements in terms of foaming slag conditioning, viscosity and basicity control by material injection directly into slag/metal interface, fluxes injection during melting/superheating phases and cleaner meltshop environmental.

Gerdau Ameristeel Jacksonville project reinforces MORE leadership to serve the electric arc steel making industry with innovative and reliable fix injection technology with a scorecard of 110 EAF world-wide.
